Usman Khalid

My name is Usman Khalid and I am a Fine Artist living and working in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. I had graduated with a degree in Fine Arts;

majoring in Miniature Painting from the National College of Arts in 2016. Though being professionally trained as a miniature painter, I don’t like to limit myself to the traditional techniques, mediums and surfaces. Rather i make an effort to carve out newer ways to visually articulate the ideas/concepts that I work on.

Since graduating, I had been working and exhibiting my work in different galleries in many major cities of Pakistan and abroad, in the form of two-person, group and solo shows. Apart from that, I had taught Cambridge O & A ‘Level Art & Design to students in Beacon House School System for several years and have set-up a studio, where I teach students part-time. I believe teaching has really helped me polish and strengthen the core of my creative process and my approach towards starting any fresh project. I keep myself open to becoming inspired by new ideas, either by my students or the environment that surrounds me.

With the passage of time, my interests and the way I perceive everything, changes. This natural shift in the overall process can be seen in the work that I do. It is essential for an artist to identify that period of change in their work and let it grow organically. I had always made an effort to get out of my comfort zone and push myself to create works which challenge me. The idea of envisioning something which you’re truly afraid of and giving birth to it on a piece of paper or fabric is anything but ordinary, I believe.
