residency ‘ART SARAYE 2022’ . She was awarded with ‘Art Saraye Artist Grant 2023’ which culminated into this first solo exhibition of her exceptional art practice at Numaish Gah, Lahore.

Feroza Hakeem was born in 1995 in Quetta and graduated from the prestigious National College of Arts in 2019 with a major in
Miniature Painting and minors in oil painting, photography, multimedia, silversmith. She also went to study for one semester in Sienna Art Institute Italy. Her work was exhibited in ‘Belt and Road’ in Suzhou University Museum China and is part of the collection at BUITEMS University, Red Crescent and Hazara Artist Forum as well. She attended the Experimental Learning Program conducted by Bani Abidi and Priya Sen in 2021 along with other artists from Karachi. Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Quetta, Baroda, London, and Berlin. She has exhibited her work at O Art Space, Gallery 6, Satrang Gallery, Full Circle Gallery, Muse Gallery, Artscape Gallery, World Bank Islamabad, Swiss Embassy Islamabad and Embassy of France Islamabad. Currently she lives and works in Quetta.

Coming from a family of Hazara community and having the firsthand experience of oppression she allows her grief to transform into these strange landscapes of her surroundings where the beautiful mountains represent her home, an apricot tree may represent a woman (in Persian tradition) and a cedar tree a protective man. Her works yet show her resilience and hope for a better future.
